Never seen before pictures of the musketeers are inserted in this magnificant volume. Alexandre Dumas became one of the greatest French writers in the nineteenth century and his literature works were for the most part all translated into the English language at the height of his popularity. He was born July 24, 1802 in the small city of Villers-Cotterets in the north of France. He was of mixed race as his descendants came from Haiti. Alex’s grandfather was the Marquis de la Pailleterie and his grandmother Marie Dumas was a Caribbean slave. His father Thomas was taken back to France at an early age and became the first Afro-Antilles soldier in the French Army rising to the rank of general.
